Tim Berners-Lee to Be Knighted by Queen Elizabeth

31 December 2003: Buckingham Palace today announced that Queen Elizabeth II will make Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). UK Honours are available to all who give service in the United Kingdom. Mr. Berners-Lee, a British citizen, is being knighted in recognition of his services to the global development of the Internet through the invention of the World Wide Web.
